"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive."
Gilda Radner
Making art has always been a part of my life. I grew up as part af a large family in Andover, Massachusetts and feel fortunate that our home was filled with music and opportunities for creativity. Spending summers at the beach in Rye, New Hampshire enhanced my attraction to nature and gave me a special connection to the ocean. I took art classes throughout school and poured over books about artists and art history. I was educated at Tufts University majoring in Early Childhood studies with concentrations in studio arts and French. While in college I took numerous courses through the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Studying later at the Boston Architectural Center allowed me to further explore my interest in all types of design, including architecture, landscape and interiors. I currently work in a variety of two-dimensional media with a focus on painting, and also enjoy photography and experimenting with making art on the computer. My home in southern New Hampshire is a wonderful place to garden and connect with nature. I am a member of the Newburyport Art Association and the New Hampshire Art Association. I was very pleased to donate a dog portrait by commission to the NHSPCA Auction for the Animals in the fall of 2008.
Genevieve and Jean Luc are my best models and constant companions. They are both young, very active, very social, affectionate and easily excited! Although each goes to school every week they feel that rules are flexible and life is all about having fun. Both are brilliant, of course, but have entirely different personalities. Genevieve is definitely in charge though only 10 months older, has a very high opinion of herself and feels entitled to all the good things life has to offer. She is also very sweet and is particularly attached to her dad. Her obsessions include chewing, gloves and cell phones. She has many boyfriends, but her favorite is Rock, a big beautiful Doberman she met at school. Unfortunately Genevieve suffers from severe allergies that provide a challenge to the whole family. Jean Luc is a bit smaller, exceedingly active and plays the role of the annoying little brother. Though very agile, Jean Luc was not successful in agility class because he was terrified of the equipment. A quasi-rescue dog, Luc is sometimes nervous in new situations, but is very confident climbing rocks, swimming and jumping; he surprised us recently by climbing a tree! He loves balls of all kinds, sqeaky toys and his blanket. They both love making new friends at the park.
